Kon unsaon paghigugma sa lalaking straight

Poetry by | February 6, 2016

(first published in Bisaya magazine)

Una, huna-hunaa, aunty,
nga usa lamang siya ka maayong higala.
Kon wala siya gatan-aw,
tutoki ang iyang bangas, o manbun ba kaha.
Ingna imong kaugalingon, dzai,
nga ngilngig ug dili gilok
ang bati-on sa mga kamot mo
kon laagon niini ang iyang buhok—
kon asang buhok ikaw nay makatubag.
Kon sa imong kakiat, assumera ka,
ma-imadyin mo na unsa
ka pagka-amahan siya sa damlag,
hinumduma nga wala kay matris.
Kon mangutana na siya
unsa nga tipo sa lalaki imong ma-bet,
girl, ipasagad ang kaluoy sa iyang mata.
Kon ibutyag na sa iyaha
ang imong tinuod nga gibati—
salamat sa barkada mong barkada traydor—
ayaw lang kaluya, bayot.
Wala lang na sa iyaha.

Kon tan-awon mo siya nga gahagok
sa imong sopa pagkabuntag,
ter, andama ang humok mong kaunoran
nga magisi sama sa telang nabitas.

Bes, dili siya imoha.

Fragment II

Poetry by | October 12, 2014

I taste that night in Mis Occ
once more,
bitter rust, lusting,
cigar-encrusted sidewalks,
and sore love
I found our memory in this
downtown road, August rain
up all night, sipping this
beer-soaked corner
gulp by gulp

Pauses, Fragments

Poetry by | July 20, 2014

Here is rage,
Unfathomed,
Rushing back,
Like ancient seas,
Lies cocooned,
Sun-lined beach walks,
Leaving waves,
Words, disguised,
foreign, phonemes,
And then,
All at once,
It hits me,
It pauses,
But never ends,
